Article in Juvenile Fiction and Juvenile Nonfiction

We admit it loudly and proudly . . . we are snobbish about books. This is a good thing. We want to provide exceptional high quality materials to children and teens. We do not want to provide just any book at a Lexile level. We want to provide books that are well written, interesting and appealing to the people in our community. So we create lists, lists of award books, list of notable books, lists of best of the year books. We have gone back to 2004 of the following lists; ALA Notable Children's Books, Capitol Choices, School Library Journal, Virginia State Reading Awards, Jefferson Cup and Hornbook and checked them against the Lexile level database, and arranged them by author, title, Lexile level, interest level.
