Standard & Poors NetAdvantage

This is part of a series highlighting databases available through the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library website.

NetAdvantage: (click HERE for access from home)

Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage is a comprehensive source of business and investment information, offering on-line access to popular Standard & Poor's research products such as Industry Surveys, Stock Reports, Corporation Records, The Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives, The Outlook, Mutual Fund Reports among others.

The company information (public & private) is useful for job seekers, marketers, investors, and students. Also historical stock quotes are frequently available from a company's web page. Industry information enables you to find leading companies in a given industry and includes industry overviews.

The library no longer subscribes to one copy of the print publication since the online version allows access from all areas of the library region. Some familiar print publications have been replaced with different information sources.

Here's a brief explanation of what is available by using the navigation tabs on the website:
  • Companies: contains Stock Guide, Earnings Guide, and Dividend Records. This section also includes information on bonds and gives a weekly market snapshot. The sidebar contains Investment Ideas and a Focus on the Stock of the Week.
  • Industries: provides industry research in over 60 areas plus a Sub-Industry Review. The sidebar in this section gives a weekly economic brief and discusses trends and projections.
  • Mutual Funds: gives commentary on fund insight and strategies as well as a review of top performing funds
  • Learning Center: this is a useful section for the novice, since it contains a section on Basics for Smart Investing and a Retirement Tutorial.

So when you think of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library, think bigger than "books and information" -- think electronic resources and use your library card to access all of this information 24/7.
